Police urging public to help identify suspect

Aug 20, 2013 | 4:07 PM

The Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) is requesting the public’s assistance regarding a break-in and theft incident.

A man who allegedly broke into a vehicle was taped on camera, which was recording inside of the owner’s vehicle.

“It’s just a good lead because we have photos of the accused,” said PAPS Cst. Shawn Rowden.

The theft occurred Aug. 9 overnight and was reported to police on Aug. 10 around 9 a. m.

The perpetrator stole upwards of $500 worth of electronics and fishing supplies from the vehicle.

Police said the vehicle was left unlocked and parked in the East Flat, located outside of a residence. Luckily, after the break-in it was left in its original location and there was no residual damage to other than the missing items.

To help avoid incidents like this Rowden urges the public to “Try not to leave anything of any value in your vehicle and lock your car up. Don’t leave house or car keys in your vehicles.”

There are no further developments at this time. The suspect could still “be on the prowl.” Police have continued to investigate the incident, in hopes the thief will be caught.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect please call PAPS at 306-953-4222 or Crimestoppers at 306-922-8477; toll free at 1-800-222-8477.

“Continue to lock [vehicle] doors, don’t leave anything in sight. Don’t leave valuables in your vehicle,” he said.
