Ina Buck Celebrates 105 Years

North Haven Care Home in Smeaton held a birthday party on Saturday, July 27th for their oldest resident, Ina Barker, who turned an amazing 105 years old. Ina was born in Norfolk, England, and came to Canada with her family in 1912 on the ocean liner Megantic, just a few months after the disastrous maiden voyage of the Titanic. Ina came to live at North Haven at the age of 99, having lived a full and productive life.
She continues to do jigsaw puzzles and read; she loves bingo and grows flowers outside her bedroom window. She believes everyone would be happier if they just kept themselves busy.
75 people signed the guest book for Ina’s 105th birthday and they rose as one to sing a rousing Happy Birthday. She is a much-loved member of the community.
