Three SPCA dogs say goodbye to Prince Albert

Apr 12, 2013 | 6:21 AM

Three dogs from the Prince Albert SPCA were sent off to Vancouver Wednesday morning.

Nuttah, Nikita and Soccer were flown out on a WestJet flight from the volunteers of the Air Angels Rescue to the Vancouver Island Dog Rescue.

Debbie Lehner, manager of the SPCA, said the determining factor for the dogs leaving Prince Albert, was the length of time they spent at the shelter.

“Nuttah and Nikita have been here for six months and there has been no interest or application and we felt it was a positive move for them to go out to the island.”

All three canines were sent to foster homes and will be adopted out of there.

Lehner added as of right now, there are no plans to send more dogs out to Vancouver.

“Our numbers are good right now. We work with many different rescue groups. If we have a need or if any of them can help, they help. And likewise, you know, we do the same for them.”

A total of 10 dogs have been flown to the island in the past two weeks.
