Bath & Body Works opens in Regina

Mar 30, 2013 | 4:04 PM

There was no shortage of estrogen waiting in line at Regina's Cornwall Centre for the grand opening of a popular bath product store.

The first Bath and Body Works in the province opened on Saturday morning.

It's not often the Queen city snags a popular women's store before Saskatoon. Stores like lululemon and Sephora both opened in Saskatoon first.

The mainly middle-aged, female line of over 50 women started outside the mall before 8:30 a.m. that morning.

“There were lots of women. There were maybe only a couple of husbands that got dragged along,” one customer commented.

But many customers commented that the one hour wait was much better than the extra trips they used to take.

“There are so many people who are ridiculously excited about it. In line you hear people going 'yes. Now I don't have to travel to Calgary. Now I don't have to go to Edmonton. Now i don't have to travel to Edmonton to find all this stuff.”

“I'm a fan. Any time we go to the U.S we stock up. I've had to pay duty on a suitcase bringing it back because the suitcase was too heavy for the airplane.”

“We went to Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary… B.C. we even went to Bath & Body Works. I feel relieved. I don't have to travel anymore.”

And the women carrying armfuls of soaps don't seem to mind being packed like sardines into the store.
