The Incredible Burt Wonderstone
There was nothing magical about this movie, but it does have a certain charm. Steve Carell and Jim Carrey make a great combination that will have you laughing for nearly a solid two hours.
Steve Carell plays an old fashioned Vegas magician whose act has gone stale. Jim Carrey’s character, a likeness of Criss Angel, offers a new thrill to audiences with his gruesome and extreme antics. A warning for the sensitive, some of the tricks are pretty hard to stomach. During one trick Carrey uses a knife to cut open his cheek then proceeds to pull a man’s card from the wound. For another trick, he is uses his head to hammer a nail. Burt Wonderstone must look deep within his soul and once again find the magic that will return him to the top of the mountain.
There is a great supporting cast in this move. Steve Buscemi plays Wonderstone’s partner. Alan Arkin is Wonderstone’s childhood mentor; and James Galdolfini is a greedy hotel owner responsible for booking all the hottest acts. David Copperfield also makes a cool cameo appearance in this movie.
This movie was not as good as I had hoped, but was still a lot better than the reviews I had read. It just goes to prove you should not be believe every review that you read. And now for my next trick, I will make you all go see this movie. Alakazam!!!!
