MAY 1st – TUE – AUDITION NIGHT at Staqatto Piano Lounge downtown Saskatoon 416 21st St E – all duo's audition throughout the night 6 till 11pm
MAY 7/8/9 – MON/TUE/WED – WEEK 1 COMPETITION at Staqatto Piano Lounge downtown Saskatoon 416 21st St E – 8 different duo's perform each night
MAY 14/15/16 – MON/TUE/WED – WEEK 2 COMPETITION at Staqatto Piano Lounge downtown Saskatoon 416 21st St E – 7 different duo's perform each night
MAY 23 – WED – WEEK 3 – QUARTER FINALS at The Broadway Theatre – Top 15 duo's all perform
MAY 30 – WED – WEEK 4 – SEMI FINALS at The Broadway Theatre – Top 12 duo's all perform
JUNE 9 – SATURDAY – GRAND FINALE at TCU Place – 22nd Street East – Top 9 duo's perform for the grand prizes
Professionals and amateurs alike compete for over $17,000.00 in cash and prizes in the 3rd Season of the Duo Competition. Unlike American Idol and other talent shows The Duo concept sets distinct rules of 2 musical performers working together each week. No karaoke in this competition !
This is the largest cash prizes ever handed out in Saskatchewan for musical performances.
Each week every duo group will perform 1 song in front of a live audience and be critiqued by a panel of judges. Voting for the night will come 50% from the judges and 50% from the audience. This means that support from your family and friends will help get you into the next round towards the grand prize. It is very important that you have support in the audience – this is proven constantly every season.
There is a cover charge per person/audience each night. Performers do NOT pay cover.
Competition starts at 7pm each night but its recommended you are seated by 5pm to make sure you have a seat (they go fast!!)
Doors open at 5pm – rush seating. You will NOT be seated before 5pm. Tusq / Staqatto has a full food menu so its recommended you come early and plan to have supper before the show
Each week will have a different music theme where all duo's must play a song approved for the category by the host Terry Hoknes
Voting and Judging Criteria
Voters MUST be seated by the start of the show. Voters will receive one (1) ballot per person. Each ballot entry will contain the names of all the duo groups performing. You get to vote for 2 different groups by putting a checkmark. You must vote for 2 different groups and are NOT allowed to vote twice for the same group. Ballots will be collected and counted immediately after the last performance each night.
Audience ballots will account for 50% and be combined with the judge’s scores which will account for the other 50% to determine who will be eliminated.
Judges will consist of local business personnel, media personnel, entertainers, or agents. Judges will be scoring on the following criteria: 1) Stage presence/personality 2) Vocal performance 3) Audience appreciation and interaction 4) Song difficulty 5) Overall presentation
1. All ages (10 to 90) may enter.
2. Tusq Restaurant / Staqatto Piano House reserves the right to use the contestants names, pictures, and biographies for promotional purposes in newspaper, radio and website.
3. The following are not eligible: employees of Tusq / Staqatto, contractors for Tusq / Staqatto.
