Prince Albert Raiders put on Father Daughter Gala

Mar 24, 2012 | 11:17 AM

A night out for fathers and daughters.

The Prince Albert Raiders are teaming up with the Ronald McDonald House to host Prince Albert’s first Father Daughter Gala.

The gala will be held on Apr. 27 at the Ches Leach Lounge in the Art Hauser Centre.

The idea for the gala came from the success of similar galas in Saskatoon, which became so popular that Saskatoon had to start holding two gala nights.

“It’s something that has legs elsewhere in the province, and we just thought that there was nothing like that in the city of Prince Albert that any organization offers. It’s something unique, we think people will be excited to have a night out. Fathers can bring daughters of any age,” said Bruce Vance, business manager and director of marketing for the Raiders.

The formal event will include a plated meal, silent auction, special father-daughter professional photographs, and a reverse raffle for his and her watches.

All the proceeds from the evening will go towards the Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon and the Raiders Education Fund.

“It’s a joint effort between the Raider Hockey club and the Ronald McDonald House. Half the proceeds will go to the Raider Education Fund to help us put former Raiders through university across Canada, and half will go to the RM Corporation as they attempt to build a new house in Saskatoon. Both are very worthwhile causes,” Vance said.

Double Vision, Canada’s only identical twin magic act will be providing entertainment for the evening. They will be performing up close and personal magic tricks throughout the night and will perform on stage after dinner.

“It will be a gala night out for fathers and daughters, a chance to get all dressed up and the daughters to get new dresses, and come to the Ches Leach,” Vance said. “It will be decorated very fancy, and have a very formal night, and a lot of fun. It should be a very interesting evening.”

Cocktails will be at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $125 for a father-daughter pair, extra tickets are $65 each.

They are available for purchase at the Prince Albert Raider office located in the Art Hauser Centre, Monday – Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
