Golden Bears win Canada West men’s basketball title

The University of Alberta Golden Bears defeated the Fraser Valley Cascades 72-71 in the Canada West men's basketball final at the PAC on Saturday night. Daniel Ferguson led the U of A with 25 points.

It's the Bears first title with 2004-05. Both the Golden Bears and Cascades now advance to the CIS men's basketball championships next weekend in Halifax.

The U of S Huskies settled for a bronze medal after a 90-85 win over the Victoria Vikings. Duncan Jones had 40 points in Saskatchewan's win. The Huskies and Vikings now wait to see if they qualify for a wild-card berth to nationals.
