Fixed Income Spay and Neuter Program at SPCA

Jan 19, 2012 | 10:40 AM

The Fixed Income Sterilization Program offers low cost spay of Cats for qualifying residents of the City
of Prince Albert. The procedure is done at participating veterinary clinics. The Program is offered through revenue generated from the sale of cat licenses, Prince Albert SPCA Animal Care Centre and participating Veterinary Clinics.

The goal of the Program is to increase the number of sterilized pets and reduce the number of
unwanted and homeless cats in the City of Prince Albert.

Why Spay and Neuter?
There is a serious pet overpopulation crisis. Over 450 cats are euthanized in the City of Prince Albert each year because there are not enough homes. The number of healthy dogs and cats euthanized each year can be greatly reduced if more pet owners spay/neuter their animals. Other benefits of spaying/neutering include:
• Improved health/longer life
• No unwanted litters
• Less aggressiveness, roaming, spraying and marking

Eligibility
To be eligible for the Program, participants must be 18 years or older; be a resident of the City of Prince Albert;
be the owner or keeper of the pet being sterilized; and
offer proof of income.
