Puppy adoption blitz worked

Aug 17, 2011 | 11:13 AM

Being little, cute and fluffy was not a hard selling point for puppy adoption in Prince Albert over the past two weeks.

A puppy adoption blitz put on by the SPCA saw 20 out of 26 puppies adopted.

“Puppies are always coming in and getting adopted out, but right now we have about six puppies in the shelter,” said Debbie Lehner, manager Prince Albert SPCA.

“We had reduced our adoption rate by 25 dollars per puppy and they all found great homes and were just so thankful to everybody that came and saw them.”

The reduced rates ended on Sunday, but Lehner said people are still welcome to stop by the SPCA and see about adoption.

“We are open seven days of the week … they can drop in anytime and come and visit us and see our tents.”

Although Lehner calls the puppy adoption blitz a success she says the SPCA continues to deal with a huge crisis of cats.

Their next big event to raise funds for SPCA operating costs is the Walk for Paws in September.

“Pledge sheets can now be picked up for the Walk for Paws event to support all the pets and to help us keep our doors open.”
