Ground search for Carol King continues near Herschel

Aug 17, 2011 | 2:40 PM

About 50 people armed with walking sticks, bug spray and sunscreen are sifting through a field adjacent to Carol King’s home, just north of Herschel, Wednesday.

Carol's sister, Brenda, organized the search using Facebook and word of mouth. She expected about 25 to show, but found closer to 50 volunteer.

They’re marching at arm’s length in a grid form fashion. Anytime anyone sees something out of the ordinary — even a wrapper — they yell ‘Stop!’ The area is then marked with an orange piece of tape. The RCMP will then come in and determine whether what was found was evidence or not.

People have arrived from all over – some personally know Carol, others are complete strangers who heard about the search on the radio and wanted to come out and help.
