Police seeking missing girl

Aug 16, 2011 | 12:05 PM

Prince Albert police officers are seeking the public’s help in locating 16-year-old Celeste Cappo.

Cappo was last seen in Prince Albert on July 7 after running from social services offices before a scheduled meeting with a social worker.

She was believed to be heading to the Regina area, where she is thought to have friends and family, but officers in that city have yet to find her.

Cappo has been listed on the Canadian Police Information Centre missing person list since she was reported missing, but both police and social services have had no contact.

Since Cappo had been labeled as a chronic runaway, the police chose not to seek the public’s help until this time.

Sgt. Kelly McLean, with the Prince Albert Police Service, said they want to ensure Cappo's safety.

“There were no immediate safety concerns for Celeste at the time due to her previous history of running away,” said Mclean.

“But the fact is that it’s been in excess of 30 days now that she’s been gone without any contact with her work or police or as far as we can confirm, direct contact with family.”

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Celeste Cappo is asked to contact Prince Albert Police at (306) 953-4222.
