Nick Markowsky of PA High Noon Optimists Receives High Honor
Congratulations go to Nick Markowsky ( Prince Albert High Noon Optimist Club) who was elected by acclamation as the Optimist International District Governor-Elect for 2012-13 at the Annual District Convention held in Prince Albert, 11-13 August 2011.
Optimist International, based in St. Louis, Missouri, is divided into geographically – connected regions called Districts. Each District has a Governor, an Optimist volunteer who handles all District administration. Nick will be responsible for District 13; Alberta, Montana, Saskatchewan and Northern Wyoming (AMS&NW). This extends from Prince Albert in the north to Cody, Wyoming in the south with 65 Clubs. Included are the PA High Noon and PA Optimist Clubs.
Nick has been with the High Noon Club for 12 years. He has served in several executive positions: President, Secretary-Treasurer and committee chair(s) He has also served with the District Board as the Club Supply Officer and as Lieutenant Governor of Zone 7 which includes Prince Albert, Saskatoon and Lloydminster.
Nick recently retired from Corrections Canada and is married to fellow Optimist, Bea. They have two children and three grand-children.
