Interim leader in Melfort

Melfort city council has chosen an interim leader.

Councilor Doug Terry was chosen Monday night to replace current mayor, Kevin Phillips.

Phillips is running for a seat in the legislature this fall as MLA in the Melfort constituency and will give up his mayoral post Oct. 10.

“I intend to meet with the mayor over the next month on a regular basis to get brought up to speed and see the direction and issues that need to be perused and will keep on track the same as mayor Phillips,” Terry said.

His leave runs from October 10th through December 31st.
