FSIN chiefs refuse Ottawa education panel

First Nations chiefs in Saskatchewan, as well Ontario and Quebec, are refusing to participate in an education panel created by Ottawa and the Assembly of First Nations.
The panel hoped to study on-reserve education and bring in new laws to improve it.
But FSIN Vice Chief Lyle Whitefish feels this method sounds a lot like residential schools, describing the panel as “one size fits all.”
Whitefish adds that funding is the real issue when it comes to better schooling.
