Low-risk year for West Nile in Sask.

Aug 14, 2011 | 8:35 AM

This year is shaping up to be low-risk for the West Nile virus in Saskatchewan.

According to the latest Saskatchewan West Nile and Culex report, the number of mosquitoes carrying the virus is lower as compared to other years.

This coupled with a shorter West Nile season due to a cooler spring means the virus shouldn't be a major threat this year.

There have been no reports of West Nile showing up in any humans in Saskatchewan this year so far.
