Police continue to search for missing 28-year-old man

Aug 11, 2011 | 11:36 AM

The Deschambault Lake RCMP is still searching for a 28-year-old man who has been missing since Tuesday.

Police say eight members of a family were about five kilometres south of Hanson Lake Highway picking mushrooms. When the group split, Albert Justin Custer stayed by the vehicles. The family members returned to the vehicles as a storm approached, but Custer was no longer there.

On Wednesday, an extensive search was conducted in the area but searchers were unable to find Custer. Involved in the search were the RCMP Search and Rescue Team and people in a Civilian Air Search and Rescue Aircraft. Locals also searched the area by truck, quad and foot.

The search will continue in the area.

Mounties say Custer didn’t have keys to any of the vehicles on Tuesday and may have sought shelter from the storm that rolled through.

Police say the area has limited cell and radio service.

Custer is described as slim and stands about 5-foot-7. He has brown eyes, black hair, a moustache and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a black, sleeveless shirt, jeans and a black hat.

Anyone with information about Custer’s whereabouts is asked to call the Deschambault detachment at 638-2392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
