McLean represents Canada at international volleyball tournament

Birch Hill’s Braden McLean is a long way from home this week as he wore the Maple Leaf on his jersey and represented Canada at the 2011 World Junior Volleyball Championships in Brazil.

McLean and the rest of Team Canada finished 10th place out of 16 teams, losing to Germany in the ninth place game on Monday.

Team Canada came out with a 25-16 win in the first set, but lost the next three to the Germans 25-19, 25-23 and 25-18.

Canada lost their first three matches against Serbia, Iran and Belgium, but won their next three against Japan, Egypt and Tunisia, where McLean had a game high six-blocks, to earn their game against Germany.
