Regina triple murder still unsolved

Aug 5, 2011 | 7:30 AM

It’s been 12 months and one of Regina’s worst multiple homicide cases is still unsolved.

It was a Friday afternoon when landlords were called to a townhouse in the city's Uplands neighbourhood after nearby residents complained about a smell.

That’s when three bodies, belonging to refugees from Burma, were discovered inside the building.

Gray Nay Htoo, his wife, Maw Maw, and their three-year-old son, Seven, were found dead.

Regina Police Chief Troy Hagen says work on the case is just as busy now as it was in 2010.

“We continue to learn more. We continue to obtain more information,” said Hagen.

Morisho Kavimba lives next door to where the Htoo family was discovered. The two units share a wall.

He says his family talked very seriously about moving, but now he just tries not to think about the gruesome incident.

“Not anymore, but I used to… Now I don’t really think about it anymore,” said Kavimba.

Besides the triple-homicide, one other Regina murder went unsolved last year.

Of the eight people murdered in the Queen City in 2010, police found the suspect only 50 per cent of the time.
