Sask. university students awarded prestigious scholarship

Two Saskatchewan university students are recipients of the prestigious Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships, announced by Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Rita Orji, University of Saskatchewan graduate, was fifth among the 167 recipients to receive the award this year.

Orji has will be given the $150,000 scholarship for her research which focuses on developing smartphone and facebook applications that promote healthy eating.

Meanwhile, Mathew Fetzner from the University of Regina also received the honour.

Fetzner says he's humbled to be awarded one of the Vanier Canada Graduate scholarships for 2011.

Like Orji, Fetzner will receive $50,000 a year for three years for his research on the effects of exercise on people who suffer from post traumatic stress disorder.
