The Prince Albert Police Service is expecting a busy week during the summer fair.

According to the Prince Albert Exhibition Association, 35,000 to 45,000 people go through the gates during the five-day event.

“We were busy last year and we anticipate being busy again this year,” said Sgt. Kelly McLean, who explained they typically see an increase in alcohol related disturbances and eviction calls.

Police generally see more of those calls during that week, he said, “but we are prepared for it and staffed appropriately.”

“We have foot patrol members that are going to be one scene at the exhibition grounds through the week and we also staff additional resources for the night shift as well.”

On the fairgrounds police will be working in cooperation with private security.

“We have a very, very positive working relationship with city police,” said Dave Young, manager of the Prince Albert Exhibition Association. “Between the two of them, the grounds are extremely safe for everybody.”

We do everything we can to make the fair a family friendly event, Young said.
