Low qualifier Denver Grola of Saskatoon has been eliminated in the first round of match play in the Northern Men's Amateur Golf Championships at Cooke Municipal Golf Course. He was defeated by Dwain Godree.

The best match-up of the quarter finals was Lobstick champion Andrew Zaba against defending champion Brad Phelps.

Colin Cobin of Delisle has also advanced to the quarter finals.

Saskatoon's Denver Grola and Andrew Zaba of Deer Valley fired the best qualifying rounds carding 70's.

Defending champion Brad Phelps of Saskatoon is also in the championship flyte along with Prince Albert's Ashley Ziegeman and Colin Cobin of Delisle.

Among those who didn't make the cut off of 76 are Dave and Ron Stewart as well as Martin Ring and Cam Bergen. Round two goes this afternoon.
