Jul 28, 2011 | 10:46 AM

Human bones were discovered along the shores of Moosomin Lake by two people in canoes Tuesday.

RCMP returned to the site with one of the canoeists and on Wednesday, a forensic anthropologist from the University of Saskatchewan confirmed the remains as human.

“The next step for us, will be that the RCMP Historical Case Unit and the Yorkton Forensic Identification Section will work to carefully excavate the bones,” said RCMP spokeswoman Natalie Gray.

Gray says police will continue to work with forensic anthropologist Dr. Ernie Walker to determine the age and sex of the remains, and how long they were on the beach for.
