Pat Conacher named Regina Pats head coach
The Regina Pats announced Tuesday that the team has hired Pat Conacher as head coach.
Conacher was recently the assistant general manager and assistant coach with the Chilliwack Bruins. Prior to his position with the Bruins, Conacher was the head coach of the American Hockey League’s Utah Grizzlies and San Antonio Rampage. He was also the assistant coach of the NHL’s Phoenix Coyotes, the Western Hockey League’s Kelowna Rockets and the Canadian National Team.
Conacher has experience as a professional hockey player, playing 521 games in the NHL. He was drafted in the fourth round—76 overall—in 1979 by the New York Rangers. He played with the New York Rangers, the New Jersey Devils, the Los Angeles Kings, Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers—where he won the Stanley Cup in 1984.
In a media release, Regina Pats General Manager Chad Lang said Conacher’s hockey experience and reputation speak for itself.
