First Nations youth need support, FSIN Vice Chief
Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) vice-Chief Morley Watson agrees with Saskatchewan Justice Minister Don Morgan’s comments, that one key to lowering crime in the province is with First Nations youth.
Watson wants to work with the government, along with the Chamber of Commerce, to put young First Nations to work and offer an alternative to gangs and crime.
“Poverty leads to crime and until we put these young people to work, help develop them, make them feel good about themselves – we are going to have the same problem we have today,” said Watson.
He said First Nations youth could benefit from connecting with their past.
