It’s somewhat rare around these parts, but a humidex advisory has been issued for southern Saskatchewan.

“Some summers it doesn't even happen, or maybe happen one or two days a summer. For the Regina area, (Monday) and (Tuesday) are the days we're expecting to see high heat and humidity values,” said Mark Melsness with Environment Canada.

The affected area also includes Moose Jaw, Lumsden, Moosomin, Grenfell, Kipling, Estevan, Weyburn, Assiniboia, Gravelbourg, Swift Current, and surrounding areas.Melsness says if at all possible, people should try to avoid the sun.

“Stay well-hydrated and wear loose and light-coloured clothing and avoid exerting yourself as much as possible,” he said.
