Katy Perry thrills fans in Regina

Jul 14, 2011 | 6:50 AM

More than 6,000 fans packed into Regina’s Brandt Centre Wednesday night to scream their lungs out for pop star Katy Perry.

People came from all over the province to see the performance.

“We drove from (Prince Albert) so it took us awhile to get here,” said one female fan.

“We probably drove five hours to get here,” said a man prior to the show.

In the kickoff to her western Canadian tour the star was also joined, for the first time, by Grammy nominated singer Janelle Monáe.

Hours before the show, News Talk Radio spoke to excited fans outside the Brandt Centre.

“She’s my idol, well not my idol, but my teenage dream I’ll say that,” said one male fan.

“I’m so excited, there’s no words to describe,” said a female fan.

After taking a few days off to recover from food poisoning Katy Perry took the stage for what was one of Saskatchewan’s biggest summer concerts.

Perry will be playing Thursday night in Winnipeg.
