Police investigate death in West Flat

Jul 13, 2011 | 3:30 PM

A 41-year-old male is dead after an incident last night.

Prince Albert Police Service attended to the 1102 18th Street West at about 10:30 p.m. in response to a complaint of an injured male.

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene and transported to the Victoria Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Foul play is being considered as part of the investigation and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Neighbours said the man who died was unknown to the immediate neighbourhood but that prior to his death he was involved in an altercation with a group of men.

“This guy was a total stranger,” said one resident who did not want to be named. “He happened to be walking by and somebody killed him and that's not right for anybody and I hope that once it goes through the courts, justice is served.”

Throughout the afternoon police and identification teams were inspecting the home and canvassing the neighbourhood. Their investigation included the use of a small remote controlled helicopter.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Prince Albert Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
