Many Benefit from 4H Fundraiser

Jul 11, 2011 | 3:49 PM

(Saskatoon SK, July 11, 2011) – The winning tickets for the 15th Annual Saskatchewan 4‐H Lottery were drawn in Saskatoon on July 6, 2011. The backyard potting/gardening shed grand prize went to the lucky ticket holder Renee Kammer of Moose Jaw.

The 4‐H lottery is a great fundraiser for the 4‐H program in Saskatchewan, with all lottery proceeds going directly back into the club, district and provincial levels. The fundraiser is made possible through a longstanding partnership between Saskatchewan 4‐H, Yara Belle Plaine Inc. and A.E. Peacock Collegiate.

“Yara is extremely proud of the relationship we have with 4‐H Saskatchewan,” said Andrew Swenson Corporate Affairs Specialist for Yara Belle Plaine. “Like 4‐H we believe as a company that promoting agriculture to youth in Saskatchewan is of the upmost importance to the future of the industry and that is why Yara is a strong supporter of 4‐H Saskatchewan.”

Yara has been a proud supporter of the Saskatchewan 4‐H program since 1996 when the 4‐H lottery was first started. Their generous support includes supplying all necessary building materials for the construction of the gardening shed, as well as covering other associated lottery costs.

Thank you to Yara for continuing to recognize the value and benefits of the 4‐H program for Saskatchewan youth.

The garden shed itself has been built from scratch by Moose Jaw’s very own A.E. Peacock students. The students have put many hours into the planning and building of the shed and have successfully demonstrated the time‐tested learning process 4‐H likes to call “learn to do by doing”.
Peavey Mart in Moose Jaw graciously provided display space until the draw.

Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket this year and supported the 4‐H program. With 15,699 tickets sold, participating 4‐H clubs earned $18,610.00 which goes directly back into the club level. The Saskatchewan 4‐H Council portion of $20,637.50 goes to support 4‐H programs and services province‐wide.
