New Tim Hortons breaks ground

Jul 8, 2011 | 6:35 AM

It’s been a poorly kept secret in Prince Albert for months and the sign along Marquis Road confirms the city will have another Tim Hortons restaurant.

The prospect of a fourth location has been brewing since paNOW spoke to the company’s director of regional marketing in Western Canada in November.

“We will try to find a way to build more restaurants in Prince Albert,” said Douglas Gunn. There is demand for another location, he added.

The plan is to have the Marquis location opened by September, said Ed Zaparaniuk, who owns and operates the city’s three locations.

Zaparaniuk’s daughter Cheryl and husband Todd Sander will own and operate the new coffee and donut chain.

The biggest reason for another location is to accommodate the high volume of patrons using our drive-thru, Zaparaniuk said.

“We can always use another drive -thru. It will take a little load off Second Avenue and 15th Street West and (the) Cornerstone drive-thru.”

To further alleviate long drive-thru line-ups, Zaparaniuk confirmed that he is planning to relocate his Second Avenue location across the street to the South Hill Mall. It’s not official and we have no date, but we hope within the next year, he explained.
