Rumours of Saskatchewan residents treated poorly by Minot residents unproven

Tire slashings, refusals of service, assault — all things people are saying about the way people in Minot, North Dakota have been treating those from Saskatchewan since the epic flooding began.

But while the rumours are rampant, no one seems to be able to pin it down to one person, business or incident in Canada or in the U.S.

“We've been hearing persistent rumours that Canadians had been treated rudely or had vandalism or been assaulted,” said Minot Police Chief Jeff Balentine. All the talk prompted him to comb through his calls for service and he said they've had zero reports.

“We've looked a lot into our records for any incidents involving Canadians and cannot come up with a single incident in the City of Minot,” he said.
