City police are reminding residents to not keep their valuables inside their car, or they risk having it stolen.
Their warning comes because police are continuing to field calls about small scale theft of valuable from parked cars.

“We responded to over ten again for thefts from motor vehicle”said Sgt. Kelly McClean.

He said a recent arrest produced several items including. McClean said it was these types of items that attracting thieves even though it’s something a vehicle owner can easily prevent.

Not only that, McLean added that it’s also a crime to buy any stolen property. He said the best defence is common sense.

“In the vast majority of these instances, these individuals are turning these small items into cash,” he said.

“If somebody approaches you and offers to sell you a $300 iPod for $50, buyer beware. That item is probably stolen.”

Kelly said often it was a neighbour reporting suspicious activity to the police that lead to arrests in relation to such crimes. With that in mind he reminded residents to remain vigilant.
