Nine people from the Poundmaker First Nation, near Cut Knife, are facing more than 30 combined charges in connection to a massive fraud case stemming back to June 2004.
They're accused of misspending band and treaty land entitlement funds after someone made a complaint to RCMP seven years ago. The Commercial Crime Section has been investigating that claim since 2006.
The charges include both theft and fraud over $5,000, as well as criminal breach of trust. Five of the nine accused also face charges of breach of trust by a public official.
The adults are all between the ages of 51 and 67.
