Swimming in South Sask. River against Saskatoon bylaw

Rescue crews are reminding Saskatoon residents again to stay out of the South Saskatchewan River.

It's after a woman jumped in Saturday, then became exhausted from the strong current.

There's a bylaw against going into the river. Batallion Fire Chief Dave Rumpel says it is essential to follow it.

“The river, even at low currents, is very dangerous,” warns Rumpel.

“There (are) under currents and very swift moving water. Even when it's low there will be different currents in different parts of the river so you never know.”
