Boundary Dam and Rafferty dam levels drop

Barring another major event, the water levels of the Boundary Dam and the Rafferty Dam will continue to go down.

The outflow on the Rafferty Dam is at 160 cubic metres per second.

The Boundary Dam is at 165 cubic metres per second. That’s down from 210 cubic metres per second on July 1.

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority’s Dale Hjertaas said they will still be keeping a watchful eye on the situation.

“There’s no significant rain in the forecast for the next few days,” said Hjertaas in a news conference Monday morning.

“The good news is there is now some capacity in Rafferty Reservoir to absorb a fair degree of rainfall.”

Hjertaas said they are not expecting flows to increase, but that could all change.

“Of course, if we get three or four inches of widespread rain again then we may be back to where we were a couple of weeks ago,” said Hjertaas.

As for the South Saskatchewan River, the outflow from the Gardiner Dam was to be reduced from about 1500 cubic metres per second to 900 cubic metres per second.

Hjertaas said for Saskatoon, reduction in water levels will be seen by Wednesday.
