Annexation meeting moved

The City of Prince Albert’s plans to annex land are moving forward, but they’re hoping to accommodate more people’s concerns by changing the date of public consultations.

The original date was scheduled for Aug. 8, but on Monday, council decided to move that date to Sept. 12.

City coun. Martin Ring said it was the right thing to do since people had raised concerns that the previous date was at the height of vacation season.

“We’ve have a couple of very good discussion with the people in the Carlton Park area,” he said. “They brought up a lot of good points, I think we addressed some of them.”

He said that while they were good, they were official legal meetings, and the upcoming one should accommodate as many people as possible.

“This becomes the official public consultation portion,” he said.

Council agreed with his recommendation and moved the consultation date.

The hearing will deal with the city’s plans to annex eight parcels of land and a right-of-way from the Rural Municipality of Prince Albert.

Residents need to contact the city clerk’s office in order to be allowed to speak on that date.
