Brett Wilson, Hayley Wickenheiser appointed to Order of Canada

Saskatchewan’s own Brett Wilson and Hayley Wickenheiser are among 50 people to be appointed to the Order of Canada.

Governor General David Johnston made the appointments on Thursday.

Wilson, who hails from the Battlefords, is a Calgary-based entrepreneur and philanthropist. He was made a member of the Order of Canada for his entrepreneurship and community leadership.

Shaunavon-born Wickenheiser was made an officer of the Order of Canada. She’s being honoured for her achievements as an athlete and for her contributions to the growth of women’s hockey.

Also named to the Order of Canada were comedian Eugene Levy and singer Valdy.
