“The Saskatchewan Day of Caring for Flood Relief” to aid Red Cross effort…

As the number of Saskatchewan families affected by flooding increases, so does the demand for immediate aid. That’s why News Talk 980 CJME (Regina) and News Talk 650 CKOM (Saskatoon) will broadcast a live, 12-hour radio marathon to raise funds for the Red Cross Saskatchewan Flood Response.

“The Saskatchewan Day of Caring for Flood Relief” will air Wednesday, June 29th from 6:00am to 6:00pm, hosted by John Gormley and Richard Brown. Donations can be made by calling 1-800-418-1111. The broadcast will feature stories of those affected by the flooding, and perspective on the disaster from prominent public figures.

“As our family and friends throughout the province cope with these devastating floods, it’s important for us to do what we can to help,” says John Himpe, Program Director for News Talk Radio.

“The Red Cross is doing fantastic work in flood-affected areas, and we want to make sure they have all the resources they need to get the job done.”

CJME and CKOM listeners are known for demonstrating their generosity. Over $1.1 million has been raised for the Red Cross through two previous “Day of Caring” broadcasts – one in 2004 to aid the Indian Ocean Tsunami victims, and the other in 2010 to help the Haiti earthquake relief effort.

News Talk 980 CJME and News Talk 650 CKOM are owned and operated by Rawlco Radio Ltd., Saskatchewan’s largest broadcaster with 12 radio stations across the province.
