Rise in river remains a danger

Jun 26, 2011 | 10:42 AM

The North Saskatchewan River has risen and is moving fast.

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority indicated the extra water comes from heavy rain upstream in Alberta.

The River was expected to rise as much as 2.5m over the weekend.

The banks along the river can start to erode with fast moving water.

Some popular areas like the 3rd avenue East Boat Launch are submerged.

Parkland Ambulance Paramedics are reminding people to be careful and warns against letting children or pets play near the water’s edge.

The current is moving so fast that a water rescue might not be possible.

Parts of Little Red River Park have also been closed due to flooding.

Property owners in the Resort Village of Candle Lake are also being advised of high and rising water levels.
