Diefenbaker House

The Right Honourable John & Olive Diefenbaker Museum, 246 – 19th Street West

Visit Diefenbaker House and learn about the personal life of the famous politician. Former Prime Minister John Diefenbaker lived in the house from 1947 to 1957, and the house is furnished with articles from both his Prince Albert and Ottawa homes. Diefenbaker was an admirer of Sir John A. Macdonald, and a number of artefacts originally belonging to Macdonald are on display as well.

The staff of Diefenbaker House looks forward to welcoming you!

Prince Albert Evolution of Education Museum – 3700-2nd Ave W

Explore the history of education with a visit to our Evolution of Education Museum. This building, constructed in 1916, served as a one-room school house in Claytonville, a town 20 miles northeast of Prince Albert that was named after postmaster Clayton Smith. The school was in use until 1963.

The school is furnished as it was during the pioneer days and contains school desks, a library, an old wood stove, slate boards, the strap, gopher tails and sports equipment once used by school children.

Our staff is available to answer questions and make your visit enjoyable.

Prince Albert Historical Museum  – 10 River Street East

Operated by the Prince Albert Historical Society, experience the history of Prince Albert and area with a visit to the Historical Museum.

Once Prince Albert's third fire hall, it was built in 1912 and was used by the Prince Albert Fire Department until 1975.

On display you will find the old fire truck and firemen's pole along with numerous other exhibits such as Queen Victoria's stockings and a Native Dugout Canoe which is believed to be over a thousand years old.

After touring the museum, relax in our tea room.

The Rotary Museum of Police and Corrections – 3700-2nd Ave W

The Rotary Museum of Police & Corrections commemorates the roles of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Prince Albert City Police along with the Federal Penitentiary and Corrections facilities within the community of Prince Albert.

On display you will find Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Prince Albert City Police uniforms, a Thomson Sub Machine Gun “Tommy Gun”, weapons made by inmates and various items used as discipline methods at the Federal Penitentiary.
