Rainfall warning for southern and central Saskatchewan, Radville in state of emergency

Jun 17, 2011 | 4:42 PM

Much of southern and central Saskatchewan, including Regina and Saskatoon are under rainfall warnings.

About 50 to 75 millimetres, or almost three inches of rain, is expected to fall on the central and southern part of the province.

Environment Canada meteorologist Gregg Walters said the rain is expected to last into the weekend.

“It should generally last throughout (Friday) and into Saturday morning. It looks to be at least 24 hours that the rain is going to be occurring,” said Walters.

There is good news for the flood ravaged areas of southeast Saskatchewan near Estevan as only 40 millimetres, or an inch and a half of rain is forecasted for that area.
