The 81st Annual Prince Albert 4H Regional Finished Beef Show & Sale concluded June 6th, 2011 with the auction of 94 steers. The dedication and commitment displayed by the 4H members and families, countless hours spent by the organizing committee and Exhibition office staff combined with the incredible support shown by the buyers and sponsors once again succeeded in proving why the Agricultural sector has and still can survive.

Carissa Watson of the Choiceland 4-H Beef Club saw her Grand Champion Steer purchased by Farm World Prince Albert and Kinistino for a price of $3.75 per pound.

Courtney Hansen, of the Weldon 4-H Beef Club, had her Reserve Grand Champion Steer sell at $4.00 per pound and was purchased by the P.A. Co-op/Davidner’s Western Wear.

The 2011 Charity Steer, with a weight of 1213lbs, came up next with the Tait Insurance out of Shellbrook and Canwood purchasing it for $4500.00.

This year was another success story raising money for this year’s charity “Shellbrook & District Health Services Project”. Thank you to CPS in Shellbrook and Masterfeeds for donating the feed for the steer and Tait insurance for donating the insurance for the steer.

The remaining animals were sold and produced an overall sale average of $2.34 per pound when including the Grand & Reserve Champion Steers and a price of $2.30 per pound without the Champion Steers. With the 93 4-H steers purchased by local business supporting 4-H members it produced an accumulative sale total of approx. $256 000.00.

The 2011 Volume Buyers at this year’s Sale were Farm World Prince Albert & Kinistino.
The Prince Albert Exhibition Association, all the families and 4-H members involved would like to extend their sincere thanks to everyone.
