Small plane forced to make emergency landing at YQR

A small plane made an emergency landing at Regina International Airport Thursday afternoon.

“He was going to Carlyle and didn't quite make it,” said Jim Hunter, president and CEO of the Regina Airport Authority.

The pilot was the only person on board the amphibious Lake Buccaneer plane that was taking off just before 1 p.m.

“The engine was malfunctioning to the extent there wasn't enough power for him to continue flight, so he just landed straight ahead. It was a good decision,” said Hunter.
