Women caught using stolen credit card

Jun 8, 2011 | 11:57 AM

A 20-year-old woman is being charged after attempting to use a stolen credit card.

The credit card was stolen June 6 from a vehicle on the unit block of 28th Street East.

Later that night, the woman was arrested at a Prince Albert business.

Sgt. Kelly McLean with the Prince Albert Police Service credits the card’s owner for reporting the card stolen right away.

“It shows that the system works in my opinion,” McLean said.

“This individual reported her card stolen as per our protocol, and the credit card company obviously flagged that immediately and it came up as a questionable card at the retailer.”

The woman is charged with possession of stolen property, use of a credit card knowing it was obtained by an offence and two attempts to use it.

It hasn't been proven that the woman stole the credit card, and that the investigation is continuing, McLean said.
