Former Rider sentenced to two years

A former Roughrider, Kennedy Nkeyasen has been sentenced to two years in a provincial correctional center – half the time in jail the Crown was calling for.

It was on October 27, 2009 when Nkeyasen broke down the door of his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and assaulted her new boyfriend.

On May 30, 2011, Nkeyasen plead guilty to one charge of break and enter and commit assault causing bodily harm

In describing the sentence this morning, the judge said both Nkeyasen’s responsibility for the home invasion and his previously clean record needed to be taken into consideration.

The well-dressed football player faced the judge directly while receiving his sentence. He blew a kiss to a woman in the gallery before walking away with two officers.
