School girls’ encounters with “suspicious man” in Saskatoon may be related

Saskatoon police say two young female elementary school students have reported before-school encounters with what is being called a “suspicious man,” and they believe it might be the same person.

“You know, it's something that we wouldn't rule out,” said Const. TishaRae Stonehouse.

Both girls go to the same school in the 3000 block of Arlington Avenue, which is Pope John Paul II School in the Eastview neighbourhood.

The first incident happened on May 16, when a man allegedly offered a nine-year-old girl candy while she was walking to school in a nearby park.

Stonehouse says on Monday morning, a seven-year-old girl was approached by a man who was inside the school.

“Again, offering this girl candy,” said Stonehouse.

The girl felt uncomfortable, left and told teachers.

Investigators are still trying to find the suspect. They're asking neighbours to keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour and immediately report it to police.

Police say the suspect is 30 to 40 years old, about six feet tall with a facial piercing. He was last seen Monday wearing jeans and a dark blue hoodie with green stripes.
