Thousands of dollars of damage over the weekend

May 31, 2011 | 5:00 PM

Thousands of dollars in damage was done over the weekend in Prince Albert, with many vandalized vehicles, smashed windows and grafittied walls.

“(The vandals) are simply throwing bricks, pieces of concrete, rocks, whatever they happen to come across,” said Sgt. Kelly McLean.

“They’re picking them up and throwing them through back windows, side windows, windshields, and in one case a window of a home suffered the same kind of fate… I would say we’re dealing with several thousands of dollars this weekend alone.”

McLean said there were no specific areas targeted, and no items were stolen.

“This seems to be just senseless, willful damage,” said Mclean.

“Somebody has to pay out these claims, somebody has to pay to have these windows replaced, and it’s something we take very seriously and would like to put a stop to.”

McLean said police are not sure if the same people committed the crimes especially the crimes occurred all over the city and there were no similarities between the crimes.

Anyone with information on these incidents can call the Prince Albert Police Service at 953-4222.
