Police arrest prostitutes
Prince Albert Police Service arrested ten prostitutes after a two-day investigation.
Members of the Criminal Investigation Unit conducted ‘street prostitution’ investigations over a 48-hour period.
“It was something that was brought to our attention and it’s something that our Intel Section keeps an eye on, and it’s something that several times a year we revisit,” said Sgt. Kelly McLean when asked why they were conducting prostitution investigations.
McLean said most of the prostitutes were arrested in the midtown area of the city. He also said the investigation does not stop with the prostitutes, but will also include the customers.
“We have to remember that it’s not just these ladies on the business end of sex crimes that we’re concerned about, there are also the customers, and they will come under focus as well as these enforcement initiatives continue,” said McLean.
