The Carry the Kettle First Nation has declared a state of emergency.

After spending about two months trying to keep the roads safe from flood waters, emergency coordinator, Jackie Grey, says much of the community is now cut off.

“The roads deteriorated in some of the family areas, there's about seventy-five homes that are affected, approximately 125 people.”

One-fifth of those people have agreed to evacuate. The 45 households that remain have been receiving supplies in by 4 x 4's and horse and buggy.
