Donations support Victoria Hospital

May 30, 2011 | 12:28 PM

Marie Mathers-Ross, a legion member, tests a new chemotherapy chair at Victoria Hospital.

The chair was part of a boost to the hospital’s Chemotherapy Unit.

Members of the Royal Canadian Legion in Prince Albert donated about $21,800 to purchase new medical equipment including a stretcher, Chemo chair, IV pumps and art work.

The money came from the 2009-10 Poppy fund.

“Each year across Saskatchewan and in Prince Albert especially, the donation revenue that flows through hospital foundations to hospitals is (significant),” said Rob Dalziel, executive director of the Victoria Hospital Foundation.

“It’s the difference between being good enough and being excellent.”

Also in May the foundation received an estate gift of $25,000. The donor directed the funds be used to help purchase a dialysis machine for the hospital. Several years ago the donor contacted our foundation office to discuss the dialysis program and where help was needed.
